important curiosities

The first thing that stands out, is the tomb of Anselm Adorno and his wife Margareta Van der Banck. She died around 1472 and was buried here. Anselm, murdered in Scotland in 1483, was buried in Linlithgow, but his heart was taken to Bruges in a leaden box and buried next to his wife.
The shields on the tomb are of the Adornes and families related by marriage (Van de Walle, Braederyckx, Hoste, Van der Banck, Broux and Hanin).
Above the altar a white-stone sculpture hangs high in the air (used to be polychromed) in commemoration of Golgotha. It represents passion and the instruments of torture of Christ.
The leaded windows date from the 16th century. They represent the Adornes Family members. Every person is accompanied by his patron saint; the shields are their quarters.
In the crypt, beneath the chapel, you can find the presentation of the Sacred Tomb in which Christ's body was placed after the deposition from the Cross.
Behind an art wrought-iron fence you can admire a gilded silver cross: its style is late Gothic and would contain a small piece of the real cross of Christ.
